Daelric grew up the son of a river tradesman in the small city of Wheloon but it was his loud mouth and trouble-making skills that were of no small concern. At the age of 12 a run-in with a patrol of arrogant purple dragon knights landed him with smuggling charges. The following spring he was sent to his uncle’s farmstead north of Arabel, nestled in the foothills at the edge of the Storm Horn mountains, to ‘tame the lad of his wild streak’. In the north Daelric felt himself settle into a lifestyle of tending to the farm and exploring the wooded valleys that suited him. It was there that his uncle first taught him the use of a bow for hunting and quickly discovered he had a natural gift for its use.
Visiting his family in Wheloon often, Daelric’s parents eventually relented (holding out to have him take up the family business) and allowed him to apprentice to a Warden, a woodsman in the service of the crown, called Jorath Aledor and accompanied him on his patrols across the northern frontier of Cormyr. At the age of 18 he was sent south to Arabel to serve his mandatory 2 years service as a guardsman there. With his guardsman duty finally completed (though Tymora’s visit in the previous year stirred all sorts of excitement) Daelric has been biding his time guarding the walls of Arabel, waiting for his petition of service to be accepted…if at all. Daelric was crushed to learn that without a patron of some renown he would be overlooked for candidates with familial or political backing, made all the worse for the stirrings of dissent and rebellion in the countryside and capital…
